Privacy Policy: What Chotu Taj Stores (Almost Nothing)

Guide updated · Chotu Taj

Chotu mascot holding a gold padlock for the privacy policy

This privacy policy is short because the site stores almost nothing. There are no accounts, no logins and no payments. A visit sends the ordinary web request every page needs, plus one small request a minute while a result page is open. The only things you can choose to give us are an email address for updates and a permission for phone notifications; both are optional and both are covered below.

The sections below say exactly what that means, who sees it, and what would change if we ever added advertising. The home page works the same whether or not you read this.

The Short Version of This Privacy Policy

  • We ask for nothing to read the site. If you choose email updates or phone notifications, we store only what they need, and we never sell it.
  • We set no cookies. The only browser storage we write is the small record that remembers that you turned on phone notifications. There is no analytics script at present.
  • Loading a page, or refreshing the result card, sends your IP address and browser type to our hosting provider, as every website does.
  • Advertising may be added later. If it is, this page will say so first, and the ad company would set its own cookies, which you can refuse.
  • We never message you unless you asked for updates, never run groups and never hold phone numbers.

Hosting Logs

The site is served by Cloudflare. Like every web host, Cloudflare records each request in its logs: your IP address, your browser identification string (the user agent), the time and the page requested. They are used for security and to count traffic in bulk, kept for a short period, then discarded. We do not use them to recognise you or build a profile.

The Live Refresh

While a page with a result card or a board is open, it asks our own results service for new numbers once a minute. That request is a normal web request and carries no personal data: no name, no identifier, no cookie. The service answers with numbers and the times they were read, nothing else. The request shows up in the hosting logs like any page load, and nowhere else; the page with the countdown is where you will see the refresh most often.

Browser Storage: Almost None

We set no cookies, first-party or third-party. The one thing we write to your browser's local storage is a small record, created only when you turn on phone notifications, that lets this browser turn them off again; turning them off deletes it. There is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to. Your browser may keep ordinary cache files so that pages load faster next time; that is controlled by your browser settings, not by us.

Email Updates and Phone Notifications

Both are optional and both start only with an action from you: typing your address into the form and ticking the consent box, or tapping the button that turns on notifications and allowing them in the browser prompt. The page about result alerts and email updates describes what each one sends. Nothing on the site needs either; the result and the charts stay free to read.

What is stored. For email: your address, the language you subscribed in, the page the form was on, the consent wording you agreed to and the time you agreed, the time you confirmed, and a hashed form of the IP address of the request, kept to stop abuse of the form. For phone notifications: the push endpoint your browser issues (a long web address at your browser maker), its two keys, your language and the time you subscribed. No name, no phone number, no device identifier beyond that endpoint.

Where. In the site's own database on Cloudflare, the same provider that hosts the pages. Emails are sent through Cloudflare as well, from an address on this domain. Each email carries a tracking pixel and tracked links so that we can see, in bulk, whether updates are opened at all; nothing is shared with an advertising company.

How long. Until you leave. An address stays on the list until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, and a bounced address is dropped automatically. A push endpoint stays until you turn notifications off or your browser retires it, at which point the next failed delivery removes it.

How to delete. Tap the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email, or the Turn off button on any page that shows the notifications card, or write to us through the contact page and name the address. Blocking notifications in your browser settings also stops them; the dead endpoint is then cleared on our side.

Advertising That May Be Added Later

The site carries no advertising at present. We may add Google AdSense in future to cover hosting costs. If we do, this page will be updated before the first ad is shown, and a consent notice will appear where the law requires one.

Advertising works differently from the rest of this site. Google would set its own cookies and identifiers in your browser to show ads, to measure them and, where you have allowed it, to personalise them from your activity on other sites. That data goes to Google, not to us, and is governed by Google's advertising policy.

You would be able to opt out in three ways: turn off ad personalisation in Google's ad settings, block third-party cookies in your browser, or use the consent notice to decline. Ads would still appear, but without personalisation. None of this applies until ads are added.

Third-Party Links

Some pages link to outside sites: the Tele-MANAS mental-health line, the national cybercrime portal and reference pages. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which we do not control. We never link to betting, number-selling or payment sites. The disclaimer covers the content of linked sites.

Children

The site is for adults aged 18 and over and is not directed at children. We collect nothing from anyone who only reads the site. If a child has emailed us or subscribed to updates, tell us and the message or the subscription will be deleted.

Your Choices

You can read every page without giving us anything, and that will not change. You can block cookies in your browser, use a private window or clear your cache, and the site will work the same. You can email us and ask what we hold about you; the answer will almost always be nothing beyond your own email, which you can ask us to delete at any time.

Under Indian data protection law you may ask an organisation what personal data it holds and have it corrected or erased. In our case there is nothing to show, correct or erase apart from the hosting provider's routine logs, which we cannot look up by person. You may still ask.

Contact

Questions about this policy go to [email protected]. The page where you can report a wrong number explains what we answer and what we never answer.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this page when the site changes, for example if advertising is added. The date under the heading is the date of the current version. A change that involves new data, such as advertising cookies, will be made here before it takes effect on the site.

Conclusion: This Privacy Policy in One Line

No accounts, no payments, no cookies; only the ordinary web request every site needs, the card's one-minute refresh to our own service, and, if you asked for them, the email address or push endpoint that updates need. The terms of use describe the rules for using the site, the note on how this site works describes how it works, and the home page is where the number is.
